UPS Express Critical® Fuel Surcharge*
UPS Express Critical service uses index-based fuel surcharges. Fuel surcharges will apply on all shipments, including the ground pickup and delivery. UPS Express Critical fuel surcharges will be updated monthly, effective on the first Monday of each month and posted approximately two weeks prior to the effective date. UPS Supply Chain Solutions® service calculates express less-than-truckload (LTL) fuel surcharge amounts as a percentage of the net line haul charges. It remains independent from base rates, appearing as a separate entry on your freight bill.
North American Air Freight fuel surcharges are assessed on each shipment on a per-pound basis. Updated bi-monthly, rates are indexed to the U.S. Gulf Coast prices for kerosene-type jet fuel, as reported by the U.S. Department of Energy.

North American air freight security surcharge rates are determined by the origin and destination of each shipment.
A peak season surcharge (PSS) may become applicable and may be imposed to select international air freight lanes. The PSS shall become effective immediately upon notice via the IAF PSS link separately provided to you or direct customer communication and may be assessed on a per-chargeable kilogram basis for UPS® Air Freight Premium Direct, UPS Air Freight Direct® and UPS Air Freight Consolidated® shipments, including UPS Trade Direct® Air. UPS assesses a fuel surcharge to its International Air Freight Services customers that takes into account the changing carrier fuel surcharges, origin and destination country lane combinations impacted, affected volume, and where applicable, local government regulations and requirements. UPS Express Freight, UPS Air Freight Direct and UPS Air Freight Consolidated shipments originating in the United States are subject to a regulatory fee in the amount of $0.15 per kilogram of billable weight per shipment, with a minimum charge of $10.00 per shipment. The regulatory fee is assessed by UPS and is related to costs associated with enhanced security requirements. The Regulatory Fee is a separate charge, in addition to any applicable security surcharge and is subject to change without prior notice.
UPS Express Freight, UPS Air Freight Direct and UPS Air Freight Consolidated shipments originating in Hong Kong are subject to a Terminal Handling Security Fee in the amount of HKD 0.55 per kilogram of billable weight per shipment. The Terminal Handling Security Fee is assessed by UPS and is related to costs associated with enhanced security requirements. The Terminal Handling Security Fee is a separate charge in addition to any applicable security surcharge and is subject to change without prior notice.

The Merchandise Processing Fee is A non-refundable fee charged by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This fee is collected for administrative expenses to process an imported shipment requiring formal entry.
The Harbor Maintenance Fee is charged by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection for Ocean Freight U.S. imports. The monetary amount charged is calculated at 0.125% of the cargo value declared on the commercial invoice.
There is no minimum or maximum to this fee.
Rate changes will typically be published annually approximately 30 days prior to the effective date. Some charges, including surcharges, may be assessed periodically, subject to industry conditions.

U.S. Department of Energy's Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Update
For non-warehousing accounts, Trade Direct cross-dock is defined as logistics activity that attempts to reduce costs and total lead time by breaking down received items on the loading dock of 10 SKUS, sorting, and immediately matching them with outgoing shipments requirements, instead of stocking the items in warehouse locations and returning to pick for orders at a later time.
UPS Service will be provided pursuant to the Domestic U.S. UPS Rate and Service Guide and Tariff, in effect at the time of shipment. Additional charges and accessorial fees may apply per the Domestic U.S. UPS Rate and Service Guide and Tariff, in effect at the time of shipment. U.S. domestic deliveries will be assessed using the attached UPS Transportation Rate charts.
Effective July 4, 2022, the fuel surcharge schedule will be aligned with the UPS® Ground/ UPS SurePost® table and for UPS Mail Innovations, the fuel surcharge will be capped at 6.5%.
Peak Surcharges. One or more Peak Surcharges will apply to certain Pieces tendered to UPS-MI for shipment during a Peak Period. Peak Surcharges apply cumulatively if a piece meets more than one of the specified criteria. Peak Surcharges apply in addition to any other applicable charges. No waiver, discount or reduction of any type to the Peak Surcharges shall apply unless UPS-MI agrees in writing to such waiver, discount or reduction with specific written reference to the Peak Surcharges.
